Hollywood Wil’s Top 5 Summer Family Vacation Spots In The U.S. (2019)

I’m a blogger, an affiliate marketer, I run social media ads, and I create content at Youtube studios. However first and foremost I am a parent and when school is out for the summer I look spend as much time with the kiddos as I possibly can.  So I am always looking for cool places to take my family.  This is my own custom list but for good reason and I will explain every choice.  Spoiler alert California did not make the list lol I know I know I am always talking about how great SoCal is but I think you will appreciate this short list as well. So with that said let’s dive in…

1.) Huntsville, AL

Ok so I have to be completely honest here.  I initially only went here because I have family there and haven’t seen them in years so I thought my family and I would visit them then head to Georgia to see additional family.  Well I had no idea NASA space camp was there so you can imagine how excited the kids were. 2019 is even more exciting because it’s the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon landing and events are going on every month. Fun events such as the landing of the moon reenactments and special exhibits at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. On July 16, visitors can watch as the center attempts to break a world record by simultaneously launching 5,000 model rockets at the exact time of the Apollo 11 launch way back in 1969. Oh and did I mention the 50th anniversary parade on July 19 will bring back memories of the one held 50 years ago. For these reasons Huntsville gets my #1

2.) Grand Canyon National Park Arizona

The Grand Canyon National Park is just a massive and beautiful sight that both kids and adults can appreciate.  The park also celebrates its 100th anniversary this summer with a plethora of special events. This is perfect for families from all over. Some of the events include the Centennial Summerfest and Star Party June 22 through 29. You will be able to see cultural demonstrations by the tribes native to the canyon, learn about the history of the canyon, and of course taste Arizona food and drink at the Visitor Center Plaza. There is something about West Coast food that is just different from other places…During the evening, local astronomy clubs will provide telescopes for stargazing. June 22 is also Junior Ranger Day, when kids can learn about what’s involved in the upkeep and taking care of the park.

3.) Disney World Orlando

I know some people are thinking “Oh not Disney again!!!”  Disney is fun regardless if you are an adult or a child but in 2019 it is a little different. 2019 brings lots of highly anticipated additions to the Florida family favorite, like the fall opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Guess what? Visitors will be able to take the controls of the Millennium Falcon and be part of a battle between the Resistance and First Order !!! Now how F’ing cool is that?  I may push my kids out of the way to get to this one lol…  In addition to the Star Wars opening there will also be the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios, the resort’s first-ever ride-through attraction theme. Other new additions in 2019 include Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy show at Hollywood Studios and a new fireworks show at Epcot.

4.) Memphis TN

I promise I didn’t just pick Memphis for their awesome world famous BBQ although that is part of the reason 🙂 But also Memphis celebrates its 200th birthday in 2019, making it a great time to visit the Tennessee city known for its music history (Sun Studio, Elvis Presley’s Graceland) and family-friendly attractions like the Memphis Zoo and Mud Island Park. Oh and yes the bbq did I mention that already?  The annual Memphis in May festival will celebrate what makes the city unique with events like a barbecue cooking contest (there’s that mention of food again) and the Beale Street Music Festival, which is a three-day, four-stage event featuring more than 60 bands and musical acts.  Also the Pink Palace Museum has recently reopened after being closed and renovated for the past 2 years.  The new renovations include displays like the replica of the original Piggly Wiggly store.  There will also be downtown festivals with plenty of nice hotel stays and events Some of the hotels are designed to look like a tree house which is pretty cool if you ask me.  Plenty to do so if I were you I would book like yesterday for the summer events.

5.)  New York, NY

NYC will forever be one of my favorite cities.  I have taken the kids here many many times.  The only reason why it is not higher up is because I didn’t want to seem biased lol.  We live not far and I grew up in New Jersey. Nevertheless there is so much to do during the day and definitely at night.  NYC 2019 is definitely a “Monumental Year” because of all the new attractions and hotels coming to the city. For starters the grand opening of Hudson Yards, New York City’s largest development since Rockefeller Center. The center boasts more than 100 shops, a collection of restaurants, the Shed arts center, an Equinox hotel, and the highest outdoor observation deck in the western hemisphere. Also the artifacts of the Statue of Liberty’s torch will be on display. Let’s not dismiss the fact that NYC has every type of food you can think of from every culture.  So if your kids want chicken fingers or world famous pizza it is there.  If they have developed their pallets and want something different like Indian, Cuban, Soul food or other just know it’s there.
