Which Supplements Should I Take? What Actually Helps?

I don’t sell or endorse any supplements, powders or foods, and that makes me a little different than some you may have heard talking about supplements. It is a law of human nature that an “expert” will tend to promote just exactly what will increase the size of his paycheck.

The recommendations I give you in this video come from the reading I’ve done into the research, and years of taking care of patients in my practice. I don’t make or sell any of these supplements.

I think there are a few supplements that most of us need to take, and many other supplements that most of us can do just fine without. If you take a supplement I didn’t mention, please ask me about it in the comments below.

Here are the supplements I talk about:
1. Vitamin D – http://amzn.to/2Dh58b1
2. Magnesium – http://amzn.to/2DgUelw
3. Probiotics – http://amzn.to/2C7IId4
4. Omega-3s – http://amzn.to/2DgjecO
5. CoEnzyme Q10 – http://amzn.to/2DU6LfR
6. Zinc – http://amzn.to/2lfwjvJ
7. B Complex – http://amzn.to/2C8MNxt
8. Vitamin K2 – https://amzn.to/2tImAlI

  1. Hi Dr Berry. I am 66 years old diabetic take meds and insulin at bed I went from 4 Shots a day to 1 shot of long acting insulin at bed time lost 49 pounds I do Keto. Should I be taking all those supplements?

  2. Hi Dr. Berry! I love your videos. I’ve been Keto for almost a week and feel terrific. Since I began watching these my heart has ached for my father. He passed away in December and if I’d known all this stuff a few years ago I could have helped him VASTLY improve his quality of life. My family has struggled with obesity forever. Imagine if I could have told him to eat more fat and lay off the carbs instead of those crappy diets the doctors put him on- he might be here today. Keto is terrific- and there’s still time for the rest of my family. Thank you so much! ❤️

  3. Just started watching your videos. While I agree with everything so far I have to argue against taking fish oil. There are dangers with taking fish oil long term. Read Brian Peskin's research on the dangers of fish oil. Brian is the world's leading expert on EFAs. His knowledge goes way beyond common ken. Also, omega 3 is overrated omega 6 is more important. Most of the omega 6 eaten is ruined by processing. Good sources are seeds (sunflower) and nuts (walnuts). Bottled goods containing omega 6 oils like soy and canola are always processed.
Another important mineral is potassium. Most people are deficient in it. Potassium helps neutralize acidity and lowers blood pressure. It also helps to keep gout away.

  4. Doc i gave up supplements long ago due to Magnesium Stearate its Not The Good Magnesium as you may know and began buying bulk herbs by the pound i measure by the teaspoon mix with honey and boiling water stir and drink when cool enough consume the mixture once a week for a month and im good for 2 months then repeat the process

  5. Question about vitamin K2. In this video you say to take the MK4 version. You hold up 4 fingers. Your link for vitamin k goes to a MK7 version. I think I recall you saying to use MK7 in another video. Which form is the one you recommend? Thanks.

  6. Will those vitamins interfere with my thyroid medication?
And the Dr put me on a gluten free diet . Around 2 pm I'm exhausted I'm tired of being tired. I also lost 35 lbs on the gluten free diet. But can't stand the fatigue low energy.

  7. I did the keto diet for 4 days and I started feeling really dizzy I went to the ER and my blood pressure was high and my potassium was really low, I haven’t taken the potassium pills because I’m scared but I’m at Walmart now getting the proscription potassium pills because I’m still feel really dizzy, fatigue, tired. I’m drinking some raw milk to see if it helps and pigs blood. But it’s from pigs that are fed pure dried corn and then the gallon of blood that they sold me said it’s mixed with water so it is not pure? What can I do to get better Ken D Berry

  8. I am type2 diabetic and routinely take magnesium, CoQ10, zinc and B12. However I disagree on vitamin D. It turned out that the vitamin D hysteria was a scam. I also have a Doctorate in Physics.

  9. Thank you for this – I'm pretty new to keto/low carb… maybe I'm not even in keto, but I've been keeping the carbs at below 30 mg per day and calories below 900 (I will increase calories once I reach my first goal) for the past 23 days and feeling great… I do get weak feeling at times and looked up how much potassium we need as I was suspect that mine was really low with the lowered carbs — any suggestions on how to come even close to 4,500 "they" say we need per day??? And, or, do we really need that much? I've had two episodes of Takotsubo, and one of the first things they did was give me a huge amount of potassium… thanks…

  10. Hello Dr. Barry I know this is not something that you may be familiar with but it’s a big big everywhere now if you look on the YouTube and all the anecdotal evidence I started taking serrapeptase at 240iu are use in the morning to help me get rid of fibrin in in my body clear up fibrin
in my cardiovascular area and hopefully I’m crossing my fingers shrink a Schwannoma I also take IP six to raise my Killer T cells thanks so much you’re a blessing thank you

  11. What about vitamin C? I have high blood pressure and taking 10 mg of amlodipine daily. Can you also address women’s hormone vitamins? I do take a prescription grade of DHEA (25 mg.) and a liquid adrenal HOA herbal adrenal supplement.

  12. I suffer from spondylolisthesis in my lower spine, and I take the following supplements- Fish Oil, Magnesium, Calcium, vitamin D, Glucosamine and Apple Cider Vinegar. I also suffer from type 2 diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, arthritis, and reflux. I am on a lot of medications for these. Am I taking the right supplements, and are there others that would help me if I took them?

  13. Hi Dr Berry, thank you for this information, you mentioned a B complex, however I've been taking B1 and B12 on its own, should I replace it with a B complex? Also what's your thoughts on taking Vit A?

  14. Hi Doc THANK YOU for sharing your free information, how about dietary supplements with L-carnitine ? And a supplement from mangosteen xanthone? Is it safe to use in keto diet?
